Cockatoo Island Alisssa Duke

Cockatoo Island has a great view of Sydney Harbour Bridge and fascinating history as a former convict prison and shipyard. It was going to be the former shipyard that bought us here today. There are over 50 industrial cranes still in place on the island of various shapes and sizes.
A few of us had been talking about a day where we just drew the cranes. ( and not be distracted by the many other sketchable features)
Unfortunately, the weather was against us.

I arrived early and left early . My plan for the day was to go way outside my comfort zone of using watercolour pencils, Lamy Safari Joy ink pen  and Moleskine Watercolour Sketchbook.
I took along A3 sheets , bottles of ink, water soluble crayons, conte crayons. – But it was VERY damp and I had to sketch  between downpours. An interesting experiment  to try again on a fine day . Anyway – here are my efforts for the day

I have no idea what this last one  is , but it looks like something from a Shaun Tan book.
